Homeschool Riding & Enrichment

  • Created specifically for homeschool families, Homeschool Riding & Enrichment offers students a memorable way to bring physical activity, practical learning, and time with horses into their homeschool experience. During regular school hours, students learn alongside other homeschoolers in an active and encouraging environment.

Riding is at the heart of the program. Students receive mounted instruction suited to their experience and comfort level while developing balance, coordination, confidence, and effective riding skills. They also learn the foundations of good horsemanship, including grooming, leading, tacking, horse care, safe handling, and understanding equine behavior.

At different points throughout the program, students also participate in engaging literacy and math activities using elements of Horse Powered Reading® and Horse Powered Math® alongside a certified instructor. Through movement, games, problem-solving, and interaction with horses, students have opportunities to practice literacy and math skills in ways that feel engaging and relevant.

More than a riding class, this program gives homeschool students the unique opportunity to make the barn part of their education. Along the way, they build responsibility, patience, communication, teamwork, and perseverance while forming meaningful connections with horses and fellow homeschoolers.

Riding Lessons

  • Riding lessons at Sterling Stables help participants develop safe, effective riding skills while learning what it means to be a responsible horseman. Lessons are tailored to each rider’s experience, comfort level, and goals, allowing students to build skills at a steady and encouraging pace.

Instruction extends beyond time in the saddle. Riders learn essential horsemanship skills such as grooming, leading, tacking, horse care, safe handling, and understanding equine behavior. These experiences help students become more attentive, capable, and confident around horses.

Through consistent practice, riders strengthen their balance, coordination, communication, and decision-making. Most importantly, they learn to approach each horse with patience, respect, and an appreciation for the partnership between horse and rider.

Whether a student is meeting horses for the first time or continuing to develop established skills, our lessons provide a supportive environment for learning, growth, and meaningful connection.
